1 January 2008 - 23:21CoD4 Remote Rcon Tool - HLSW

I’ve used many tools to admin game servers remotely but one sticks out from among them as being the best and by the title of this post you can probably guess it’s HLSW. So what is HLSW?
Quoted from the HLSW site:
What is HLSW?
HLSW is a powerful gaming and administration tool, useful for ambitious gamers and also for professional server administrators. From easy connecting to gameservers to live reporting of a match into an Internet Relay Chat, everthing is possible with HLSW. Because HLSW was made by gamers for gamers, the main focus was to develop an ergonomic design.
With its modular structure and the design of sections it gives you all the necessary information on every part of your gameserver with a single click. Just toggle the rcon section and you are able to administrate your server in a comfortable way within seconds.
But HLSW supports even more: Let your friends know where are you playing and show serverdata in messenger applications like ICQ and IRC, so they know where you are playing.
HLSW supports about 40 games overall with all their mods, and every update covers the newest games and changes.
I’ve been using this tool for ages now so i’m very used to the functions and settings that this handy tool has to offer. There are many things you can do with HLSW but the main thing about it i’m gonna focus on in this post is administering your CoD 4 server.
First you need to download HLSW and install it. Once installed and you run the program it will ask for a login.
Like this:
But don’t worry about that, just click offline and proceed to the programs main interface. Once there it might seem a bit busy and overwhelming to some but most people reading this will probably only use it for remote rcon to their servers which means you only need to use a small section of it.
At the top you’ll see some options:
Click view and then click on rcon section so that the rcon panel at the bottom appears:
Then paste in your server and port at the top where it says IP/Port:
And back to the rcon section at the bottom you will need to type in your rcon password. After typing in the rcon password for the server you should click on test, in order to check that the password is working with the server. You can also choose to hide and save the pass which is a good idea.
Then at the bottom of the rcon section you’ll see some tabs:
Click on the console tab, you’ll see a wide blank box that you can type in and a send button next to it. Basically this is where you’ll type in your rcon commands to the server. This is by far the coolest part of HLSW. Pretty much every command for call of duty rcon commands work with it. I like spooking people out in the server by sending funny messages to it via console without even being in the server myself
Anyway when typing in rcon commands you don’t need to type “/rcon” every time you only need to type in the actual command itself. For instance:
When kicking someone from a server you need to type /rcon clientkick [id], but in HLSW you can scrap the “/rcon” and just type “clientkick [id]” instead.
Hope this helps some peeps! Also for those of you not familiar with rcon commands in CoD4 check out this post called CoD4 Rcon Commands.

[...] this is another rcon tool for cod 4. I know i already said in a previous post that HLSW was the best rcon tool. But that’s because it supports a ton of other games and isn’t game specific (supports [...]
